In addition, numerous features are described, which are illustrated by some embodiments, but not others. Similarly, various requirements are described that may be required for some embodiments, but not for other embodiments.
Referring to Figs. 1 to 3, there is shown a portable band in the form of a bracelet 10 for use, for example, in a wristwatch strap or a jewelry band comprising a plurality of armband portions 20 interconnected by a plurality of links 15 according to the present invention having. Each link 15 is capable of connecting two consecutive sections, such as sections 20A, 20B of the bracelet 10, as indicated by the circle in FIG. Each connection 15 comprises at least two connection units 22, 24 which are adapted to be held together by a pin 30 to form a portion 20 like the first portion 20A. The pin 30 includes a shaft 32 adapted to be received by a receiving portion 26 of the first portion 20A. In one embodiment, the receiving portion 26A may include a bore or channel formed by a first channel 27A of a first connection unit 22A of the first portion 20A and a second channel 28A of a second connection unit 24A of the first portion 20A.
The connecting units 22, 24 of the bracelet portion 20 may generally be formed of any suitable and / or desired material for bracelets or portable tapes. Preferably, the connecting units 22,24 may be made of a strong and rigid material such as, but not limited to, ceramic or metal, although it will be appreciated that other materials such as plastics, woods or stones such as gemstones, which are also commonly used in portable decorative Articles used can be applied. The pin 30 may be made of any material with good mechanical strength, such as, but not limited to, metals or metal alloys, etc.
As more clearly shown in Figures 4 and 5, the pin 30 may further include first and second head portions 34, 36 at respective opposite ends 34 ", 36 'of the shaft 32. Each of the first and second head portions 34, 36 is adapted to be received by a corresponding one of a first connection unit 22B and a second connection unit 24B of a second adjoining section 20B of the bracelet 10, adjacent to the first section 20A, as shown in FIG View from outside the joint 15 is substantially hidden when the two portions 20A, 20B of the bracelet 10 are connected to form an extended portion of the bracelet 10.
In particular, the first connection unit 22B and the second connection unit 24B of the second section 20B each include a cavity 44 and 46, respectively, suitable for receiving a respective first and second head region 34, 36 of the pin 30. In one embodiment, the first and second Head portions 34, 36 are configured in a cylindrical shape to substantially conform to the shape of the cavities 44 and 46 so that the head portions 34, 36 can be snugly received and yet free to rotate in the respective cavities 44, 46, thereby preventing the two joined sections 20A, 20B to be pivotally movable about the pin 30.
In the embodiment shown in Figures 4 and 5, the pin 30 may comprise a first, enlarged head portion 34 of substantially greater size than the bore or channel of the receiving portion 26A. Accordingly, when the shaft 32 of the pin 30 is arranged to be inserted into the receiving portion 26A, the enlarged head portion 34 prevents further movement of the pin 30 into the receiving portion 26A.
In another embodiment, the pin 30 may include one or more retaining members 40 disposed on or adjacent to one or more corresponding ends of the pin 30 to thereby restrict movement of the pin 30 along the receiving area 26A.
